About Me/Them: (Please ask your Pet Kid(s) what they want you to say about them.)
Lenny was a bait dog, chained and with a grass rope around his neck. He was used to train fighters because he wouldn't fight. He was also buckshot. He was found as a stray and entered a shelter that has to put down all pit bulls mandatory, but Lenny was too sweet, so they sneaked him into another shelter. Again, Lenny ended up on the euth list. When it was his time to go, the guy couldn't do it because he was just too sweet, so they put him into rescue. He was adopted out, and returned because the owner didn't exercise him and left him in the backyard, where he dug under the fence and found his way back to the shelter waiting at the door multiple times. He's been in foster homes too. Some people are scared of him because he's an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) and he has scars all over, especially his head. Lenny finally has a place to call home, where he is understood and loved for who and what he is. He will make a great breed ambassador because of his temperament towards people and even other animals despite what he's been through (a real pit bull!).

Titan was found as an emaciated stray puppy, but he loves everyone (people, dogs, even cats) and would play all day if he could. He's never met a stranger despite being a German Shepherd Dog, and is the most clowny and silly/uplifting dog I've ever met - EVER. He makes me laugh when I need it most with his funny antics.

Pepper is a snobby little dog who tries to guard the house despite his size and isn't too fond of strangers. He takes a long time to warm up to someone and will bark at their arrival even if he has known the person for a long time. Once he warms up to someone though, he is a real sweetheart with funny little quirks and antics. He vocalizes a lot, likes to tear up paper and is a very active/healthy 8 year old. He thinks he's much bigger than he is and even tried to take on a two trailered 18 wheeler when he was a puppy. He is scared of his butt, especially +!@#$ .

Peace was a stray kitten picked up by Animal Control. She gets along just fine with the dogs, although she would probably like it if they quit sniffing her butt! She likes to meow, rub on me and lay in my lap. She's still full of kitten energy and loves to play. She makes weird noises like a turbo boost right before she runs in a random direction for no apparent reason, and likes to explore places.

Kitty huffs and puffs at every little move. She can't see very well because she's albino... She runs in her wheel all night long and likes to snuggle on your shoulder.

Was the arrival of your Pet Kid(s) planned or is there a story?
Titan's beginning was a difficult one. He was abandoned by his breeder when he didn't sell - left on the streets to starve to death. Emaciated, he was caught by animal control and put on death row. The Humane Society picked him up at the last minute and he was transferred to a foster home. I had been looking for a dog for a while, when I ran across his profile on Petfinder.com. Only 3 days later, I was in the car headed to Florida to meet this young fellow. That day, November 20, 2008 he came home with me. I am there to help him with his problems and give him direction in life, along with a good home. He is there for me to help me with my own problems and loneliness. Together, we make a team and help each other.

Pepper was a gift from my grandparents who bred many dogs in a kennel. They only had one pair of Miniature Schnauzers: Hannah and Chipper. They passed a few years after we got Pepper. We used to have a Miniature Schnauzer of pure champion show blood on both sides, Sir William (Willy for short). He lived to be 14 and mum loved him to pieces. She was only able to get Willy by begging and begging, and on the terms that she would show him in the ring. She never got to though she really wanted, and she never got puppies from him thanks to my awful father. Willy was everything to mum and he was put to sleep from severely metastasized toe cancer when I was about 5. I remember him sleeping beside me when I was in my tent, guarding me. Whenever mum and I visited my grandparents, we would look at the puppies and I really wanted a Schnauzer puppy. Finally mum decided it was time and she was ready. She named Pepper before he arrived and it fit him perfectly. Granny brought Pepper to us on a visit and he instantly bonded with me, and later when I went to boarding school, to mum. He's the best present I think we've ever had.

The story of Kitty's arrival is in my blog.
The story of Piggle's arrival is in my blog.

Fish Tuberculosis - If you keep fish, you need to know this!

If you keep fish, you need to know this because if you get this bug in your tank, you won't be successfully keeping fish again until you start all over! Have you ever had all or most of your fish die on you for seemingly no reason? Or contract a bacterial infection that appeared to be something like closed fins, red sores, a bent back or bizarre symptoms like sudden death or holes that you can't find in your standard fish disease book? Welcome to the horrible world of fish tuberculosis!
