Hi! My name is Sena Lee, Graduate Student of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Purdue University.

Now I am researching on "traveling with pets" and need pet owners' onpinion.

I would really appreciate if you could help me by completing this survey. This survey will take approximately 5 minutes.

It is hoped that the outcomes of this research will provide a better picture of consumers’ viewpoints and preferences related to pet travel services and products and help industry practitioners in their effort to cater to the needs and wants of this market segment, thus bridging and linking industry practices with consumer needs.

Permalink Reply by Pat Daly on September 17, 2008 at 11:30am: Sena Lee, i saw your profile above and since i spent my entire career in travel management i'd like to suggest that you carefully research in the MARKET what segment of travel and hospitality you plan on getting into if u go to the public sector... many, many disappointed students from this major have I seen who spend lonnnnggg nights behind a hotel reservatons desk booking drunks and tired travelers into hotel rooms at 3 am... even with advanced degrees. Travel is currently a brutal industy and is NOT FUN like it should be. Mostly due to no or low margins and huge swings in the marketplace due to exogeneous factors, i.e. wars, terrorism, dollars decline, etc. And every one takes its toll on employees.... like being laid off for the 25th time just after building a department and getting the staff motivated, etc. Insiders could call well known companies (just a few examples) as...

Hilton='s Hitlers Hotel (brutal to employees)
Trafalgar Tours= Torture Tours uses younger grads to build departments and then fires them to replace them with new, cheaper salary new grads (clever hey... if your not a grad)
Club Med= Club dred transfers to older clubs at a whim and u never get anywhere in managment unless u are family (industry is rife with this)

If i where u id change my major... this business segment stinks.

Now, on the subject of pets price erosion has made hospitality chains (hotels) desperate for dollars so many, many of them are finally opening their door and rooms to our pets! About time!!
